In our photo gallery, which was founded in 1997, not only do we present photo icons such as Man Ray, Irving Penn, Horst P. Horst, Peter Lindbergh, Peter Beard, Richard Avedon, Diane Arbus and Helmut Newton, but we also exhibit young, up-and-coming artists who are just starting their careers. Most exemplary are David Drebin, Silke Lauffs and Martin Schoeller who have each had their first exhibitions in Germany with CAMERA WORK and have since then had impressive artistic developments.
The work with the photo camera is the essential condition and foundation for our understanding of photographic art, and it is with this background that our gallery attempts to rightly pursue the tradition of Alfred Stieglitz’s legendary magazine ‚Camera Work’. This is expressed, among other things, by our focus on vintage photography.
