Fotogalerie Friedrichshain

Fotogalerie Friedrichshain is the oldest municipal gallery in Berlin. Established in 1985 it was the first art gallery in the former GDR that focussed exclusiely on photography. Today it is still located in Helsingforser Platz, close to Warschauer Straße station. Since 2002 it is operated by Kulturring in Berlin e.V.

With a strong focus on social documentary and engaged photography, Fotogalerie Friedrichshain hosted during its 30 years history, exhibitions by the likes of Sebastiao Salgado, Tina Modotti, Imogen Cunningham, Gordon Parks or Cecil Beaton, along legendary German photographers like Helga Paris, Arno Fisher, Sybille Bergemann, Roger Melis, Harald Hauswald or Ute Mahler.
