Johanna Breede has achieved combining her passion with her career. She studied art history in Munich and in Vienna, but her passion for photography was greater than that for classical art. For eight years she was director of the photography department of the Berlin auction house Villa Grisebach, since April of 2009 she presents exhibitions in her own minimalistically conceived showrooms. The gallery, whose specialty is the art of photography, presents in changing exhibitions both classical and contemporary photography. Artists such as Hannes Kilian (1909-1999), Liselotte Strelow (1908-1981), Herbert Tobias (1924-1982), Louis Stettner (*1922), Beat Presser (*1952), Barbara Celestina (*1964 Vienna) and Sheila Rock characterize the gallery's portfolio. In addition to the presentation of established artists, a focus of the gallery is the support and establishment of younger photographers. Five to six exhibitions a year contribute to an encounter with the medium of photography and advance their significant as art. Publications, responsible consulting and the care of private collections and estates, as well as cooperations with museums and art associations supplement the gallery's program.
