The Verein Berliner Künstler (VBK / Berlin Artist Association) is the oldest association of artists in Germany. It was founded in 1841 and is related to a long tradition. The association is a union of professional visual artists who work in the fields of painting, sculpture, graphics, object art, photography and new media. The Verein Berliner Künstler represents an artistry which is interested in participating in a vivid dicourse on contemporary positions of art and art production. With its residence in a town house with a gallery space in Berlin-Tiergarten, the VBK is situated in the city center near Neue Nationalgalerie and the Kulturforum on Potsdamer Platz. The VBK exhibition program is mainly focused on the presentation of the members' artistic creation. In addition to that the VBK also works on a profound intercommunication and a stronger exchange with other national and international artist associations to which the VBK space could be offered as an interesting forum and platform. By this means the cultural landscape of Berlin shall be enhanced. Art and artists as well as the activities of the VBK are supported by the Friends of VBK
