THE INSTITUTE (DAS INSTITUT) is a place for visual and verbal communication, which is always looking for new set-ups. It is exploring various new ideas and topics on a regular basis. After choosing a topic, the institute’s space can be used for exhibitions, theatre performances, workshops or anything else, which visualizes this topic. Some projects may last for a few hours only or it will be open to the public for a few days but it will never open longer than four weeks.

THE INSTITUTE is a non-profit-making project, which operates apart from the hierarchies of the art market to create a temporary and themed space for the contemporary arts and culture.

With works by known and unknown artists, the institute’s aim is to show and highlight socio-critical questions and problems. THE INSTITUTE is full of enthusiasm for utopian, quixotic, poetic and political visions and refreshingly new ideas.

Art connects, art communicates, art makes new things happen – that is THE INSTITUTE’s firm believe. Because we collect impressions, experiences and adventures with all our senses. These free up our imagination and allow us to picture our world. Art is giving us different pictures and ideas of our world – it can make us rethink, can offend us, can make us laugh and can teach us new things.

Together with others we want to explore philosophical ideas, aesthetic concepts and new ways of thinking by supporting the arts with our personal engagement. As a collective we are interested in exploring new ways of funding the arts and culture in order to find new treasures. Therefore we invite experts and laymen, art historians and art enthusiasts, small ones, tall ones, young and old ones to get in touch with us.
