“In her unique and reality-packed Pop Surrealism, the stopping of time is combined with dramas of the ordinary.“ With this evaluation, the Vienna exhibition ‘Pop Up – Female Pop Art’ honoured the importance of the oeuvre of the Berlin artist Christa Dichgans in 2010. And the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung acknowledges that already in the 1960s she succeeded in establishing a German Pop Art variant of quite specific imprint “with a streak towards the surreal” (Fig. 1). Now the Berlin gallery Köppe Contemporary has arranged an exhibition for the Grand Lady of Pop Art that, besides paintings hitherto seldom or never shown at all in public, presents graphic prints and drawings.
