CARMEN
Opera from Georges Bizet
A summer production of the Berlin Opera Academy

BOA's singers are guided by a faculty actively performing at the biggest opera houses in the world: the Metropolitan Opera of New York, the Opéra de Paris and Staatsoper Berlin.
Come see internationally renowned conductor Peter Leonard and widely acclaimed director Gidon Saks bring to life, with the singers of the Berlin Opera Academy Bizet's « Carmen» in St. Elisabeth Kirche.

Carmen has become the symbol for female freedom which began at a time when that wasn't self explanatory. Bizet created a character that has come to be embraced as a masthead for a life lived by instinct, passion and desire. His music mirrors a vibrant world - full of rhythm, longing, wit, melody and foreboding. An experience at once cathartic and inspiring, Gidon Saks' fresh take on this beloved Opera showcases choreography by Andrea Kingston sculpting the seductive tale of Carmen into a contemporary musical production.
