We cordially invite you and your friends to an artist talk with Björn Siebert, at the moment exhibiting artist at Hengesbach Gallery with HOMECOMING, SUN & RUIN (REMAKES). We're glad to welcome Prof. Dr. Steffen Siegel for this event, he teaches aesthetics at the university of Jena.
To give a first insight to Sieberts work, read on the following passage and if you're interested, we're looking forward to see you at thursday this week!
A papier mâché cottage on a writing pad, a bitten bagel on crumpled pastry paper: Björn Siebert’s ‘Remakes’ relate moments of our everyday lives.
His photographs tend to reveal objects, and less often dramas between people. Common to all of the ‘Remakes’ is an element of chance. Their origins seem to go back to fleeting moments. Despite this admission, Siebert’s photographs nevertheless always feel composed. The casualness of the motives resonates with a remarkable accent. In their pictorial composition, the papier mâché cottage and bagel leave no doubt as to their situational completeness. The cause of this impact rests in the careful staging of what was originally random. Siebert’s ‘Remakes’ do not present first-hand experiences but rather reconstructions of amateur photos that the artist found in the internet. In the almost unlimited universe of photos posted online, Siebert helps himself to snapshots, which serve as models for his interpretations.
