On the occasion of David Hartt's current exhibition "Negative Space" at Galerie Thomas Schulte there will be a screening of the artist's films, "adrift" (2015), "Stray Light" (2011), "The Republic" (2014), and "Interval" (2015). Relating to anthropology and architectural history Hartt takes us to the islands of Tuvalu and Sakhalin, as well as to the cities Whitehorse in Canada, Athens and Detroit, and inside the Johnson Publishing Company building in Chicago. Hartt's imagery, while being neither voyeuristic nor detached, offers us an insight into vernacular cultures, tensions between human and nature, central and peripheral perspectives, past promises, present realities, and future consequences. Independant curator and writer Denise Ryner will give an introduction to David Hartt's video work.
Tue–Sat: 12am–6pm and by appointment
