Die Wander-Installation SAFE EUROPEAN HOME? macht Station in den Räumen der Galerie Kai Dikhas.

Die Kunst der britischen Traveller Delaine und Damian Le Bas speist sich aus Erfahrungen, die den Alltag der Volksgruppe der Roma seit Jahrhunderten prägen. Das Künstlerehepaar reagiert mit einer ganz eigenen "Pop Art Version" der Lagerrealität auf die häufig brisanten Lebenssituationen der Sinti und Roma in Europa. SAFE EUROPEAN HOME? ist ein begehbarer Bretterverschlag, der die jahrhundertealte Geschichte und die gegenwärtige Lebenssituation vieler Roma illustriert und die übergeordnete Frage nach einer Zukunft für alle Gruppierungen stellt, die durch vermeintliche „Andersartigkeit“ charakterisiert werden. Sie fragt nach den individuellen Handlungsmöglichkeiten minorisierter Gruppen und denen der Mehrheitsgesellschaft: Kann - und will - Europa ein sicherer Ort für Minderheiten sein und was muss zur Verwirklichung dieser Noch-Utopie getan werden?

The travelling-installation SAFE EUROPEAN HOME? stopps off at Galerie Kai Dikhas.

The art of the British Travellers Delaine & Damian Le Bas is inspired by the experiences of exclusion in the every day life of Roma and Sinti. The artist couple reacts with a personal "pop art version" of camp reality
 to the mostly precarious living conditions of Sinti and Roma all over Europe. SAFE EUROPEAN HOME? is a walk-in installtion in form of a wooden shed. It illustrates the centuries-old history and the current life of many Roma. It asks for the future of people who are characterized by a supposed "otherness". It demands individual solutions for them just as for the majority. Is Europe still able to be a
safe place for minorities and what has to be done to implement this utopia?
