transcript Verlag and SAVVY Contemporary present:

While the death of white male dominance is very welcome, it also carries some explosive issues. For instance, the danger to confuse decentering with marginalization, cutback on privileges with discrimination, and in the end come to pity oneself as a "victim of victims.” Anders Breivik's assassinations have clearly demonstrated the perils of a masculinity that feels threatened. Ever since white males' self-reflection is overdue. Overdue, but still tricky. As privileged, they cannot make sense of themselves in the same way as those who happen to be at the outskirts of a world run by white males. It is the exposure of the dilemma haunting white males of nowadays that offers a solution, other than self-pity or self- exaltation.

On December 3, 2013 philosopher and publicist Dr. Luca Di Blasi will launch his latest book, Der weiße Mann: Ein Anti-Manifest in SAVVY Contemporary's archive space. After a formal presentation visual artist and curator Thomas Eller, and writer and curator Dr. Heike Fuhlbrügge will join the author in conversation. Stop in for chat, wine and books!

The language of the event is German.
