DIINA BUKAREVA: Improvisation on Thanks Trisha and Yvonne
JOONA PAKKANEN: Drawings, Works on paper

Originally Thanks Trisha and Yvonne was a choreography for two dancers. The piece is not a no-manifesto. Instead it says yes to repetition, simplicity, trainers, costumes, and jumping. The original choreography consists of five parts and is intended for two dancers. The movement arises from everyday gestures - such as sitting down, picking up a shopping bag, pushing a pram, licking a cigarette - seen on the street, at supermarkets, and at bus stops. The arrangement of the movement and the concepts of repetition and accumulation refer to Trisha Brown's and Yvonne Rainer's works from the 1970's. The choreography has been rehearsed entirely in public places, such as parks and shopping centres, making the rehearsal process a performance in itself.

The original duet was presented as a work-in-progress in June 2013 at an old abandoned match factory in Tampere, Finland and developed further for the performances at Tampere Student Theatre in December 2012. In the summer 2014 the work was performed at STOFF2014 festival at Kulturhuset, Stockholm, Sweden.

DIINA BUKAREVA is a Finnish choreographer and performer. She has graduated as a choreographer (MA) from Trinity Laban in 2011 having previously studied dance (BA) at Turku University of Applied Sciences. Lately her works have glided towards contemporary theatre incorporating text, movement, sound, and visual elements. Often they resemble audio-visual installations with a human body in the centre of attention. Her choreographies have been presented in Finland, UK and Italy, and they vary from intimate solos to group choreographies intended for major stages. Through her work she attempt to question and recreate both individual and social values where the goal is to offer the viewer a new point of view on humanity, identity, arts, society, and everyday life.

JOONA PAKKANEN (b. 1984, Helsinki) is painting, drawing and sculpting with mixed media on various materials. The exhibition – “Works on Paper” includes drawings, collages and paintings on paper created between years 2013–2015. Joona Pakkanen lives and works in Vienna, Austria.
