Inspired by Hollywood movies and Arab women, Dress Me How You Like is an interactive performance in which Rima Najdi invites participants into her “tent” where they can dress her with a variety of hand-made clothes and accessories, make her pose and, if they want to, take a photograph.
The performance aims to research the imaginaire created around Arab women through their attire. The hand-made clothes are based on representations of Arab women performed by Western women in popular media (commercials, music videos, film, etc.). Concentration is placed on the spectatorʼs gaze that reproduce stereotypical images reflecting the many misjudgments Rima encounters in her daily life as a woman from the Arab world.
