Galerie Mario Mazzoli is pleased to present the second solo exhibition in its space by Paolo Inverni. A show entirely made of new works.

Eclissi (It. Eclipses) is the result, in form of exhibition, of the collision between two different narrative nuclei: the first emerges from a chant performed by Paolo Inverni's maternal grandmother in a small church—-one that is now quite neglected, but used to be the meeting point of the local community—-located near Savigliano, in the Italian region of Piedmont. The second consists of a reflection on the social instability propelled by the recessive implosion that, since the sub-prime crisis of 2007, has first infected the United States and then plagued the entire world.

Eclissi tells of a reality frozen in a state of continuous alert: as if afflicted by post-traumatic stress disorder, it evolves into a series of sequences firmly warped around themselves. There is no catastrophic solution, nor, least of all, the return to a prime state of calm. On the one hand, Inverni's work deals with observations on political activity—-and on how much it incorporates the concepts of "symbolic" and "iconic" produced and distributed first through traditional media, then through digital platforms—-and, on the other hand, with the tireless interest towards archives and towards relentless chronicles of self expression. Eclissi, however, is not a pessimistic show: behind the apparent obscurity, we can find forms of resistance carried out—-in a giant metaphorical "zoom out"—-by individuals, families, communities, and social groups.
