Every Moment Lives Together is the cumulative result of Australian artist Karla Marchesi’s six month studio residency at Atelierhaus Mengerzeile in Treptow, Berlin.

Presenting various experimentations and investigations undertaken throughout the residency period, Every Moment Lives Together charts a new direction in Marchesi’s practice. The resulting works grant us a compelling insight into the uncanny ability of everyday objects to establish cerebral connections with intimate places and memories. Marchesi is not exempt from creating these connections herself; the plants, towels, piles of debris and architectural spaces featured in these paintings oscillate in geographic reference between Berlin and the artist’s family home on the other side of the world. It is this unrepentantly honest relationship with her subject matter (and all its possible subtexts) that endows Marchesi’s compositions with power and touching uniqueness. Every Moment Lives Together is Marchesi’s international debut solo show.
