Fellman’s field movie in three channels
22 000 soldiers and civillians were gathered into a prison camp to Fellman’s field in Lahti 1918. The prisoners were forced to spend almost a week outside without food or drink before they were send to other prisoner camps inside. Thousands died.
Kaisa Salmi tried to create a framework from which it would be possible to deal with the Finnish Civil War in a constructive way. At the same time the work shows solidarity to peoples that are at present involved in civil wars.
This documentary triptych film combines Finland’s biggest perfromance, stories of five main characters and text in verse form, which tens of volunteers read to camera.
