Proposals for Monuments is a collection of drawings, etchings, paintings, and sculpture that catalogue my response to myriad problems and phenomena I struggle to understand daily.
Proposing monuments to the most asinine of humanity's actions plainly affirms their absurdity. This idea also relates to the timeworn tradition of the all-powerful decorating and gilding their dysfunction, to further blind the eyes of their commonwealth. These “proposals” have been sourced from sketchbook entries I have made for the past eight months upon my last return to the United States. This work illustrates trivial annoyances to momentous injustices, and is contextualized by my lasting fascination with the Berthold Brecht’s masterfully pointed description of the character in his poem God of War.
