In cooperation with the Lee Miller Archives in Chiddingly (East Sussex, South of England), the galerie hiltawsky will present a solo exhibition of the American photographer Lee Miller (1907 – 1977). Opening on August 2nd, this show will feature approx. 40 photographs, ranging from her photographic experiments in the time she spent with Man Ray, her portraits of Picasso and her friends from the circle of surrealists, her fashion photographs in Paris alongside photographs she took during London at war.
While Miller´s photographs, currently shown at dOCUMENTA (13) focus on her stay in Hitler´s Munich-based apartment in 1945, the show at galerie hiltawsky will also include photographs Lee Miller took in Egypt and during her occupation as an „embedded journalist“ on the side of American troops.
