To be surprised, to wonder, is to begin to understand.
Jose Ortega y Gasset
Two paths - that never crossed but bore so many similarities.
The Gallery KunstBüroBerlin is proud to present the exhibition of two great artists whose work was born out of post war deconstruction but brought back the light within their art.
Within his monochrome colour field paintings Lothar Quinte (*1923 - † 2000) deals with colour, space, light and material. His body of work lets us systematically follow the development of modernity and makes him one of the most relevant German post war artists.
Max Wechlser (* 1925) escaped 1939 at the age of thirteen from Berlin and the National Socialists to Paris. In order to not succumb the same fate as his parents he had to remain silent. He was not able to articulate in French and his mother tongue would have given him away. This speechlessness became a prevailing theme within his artistic work. He says that his work aims on separating the symbol from its function within speech and language.
The exhibition runs from the 11 of September until the 2nd of November.
We are looking forward to your visit.
