LOVE.
There is hardly any activity, any enterprise, which is started with such tremendous hopes and expectations, and yet, which fails so regularly, as love.
Erich Fromm, “The Art of Loving”
Love cannot be rationalized. Over and over again it is contextualized by society where one is implored towards romance but also warned against it. One is made aware that the process of love is inexplicable and extraordinary, and yet, the only way to grasp it is to intellectualize it.
The exhibition, held over three days, constitutes an amorphous and reflexive approach to this elusive subject through a progressive body of performance. At the same time it is an ever-changing installation, which traces the inevitable process of cocooning and uncluttering, deconstructing and unbinding.
With this project Lisa Stertz finishes her M.A. studies in the European Media Studies program of the University of Potsdam. She is supported by its student union.
