Masses & Impersonation

is a series of performance events taking place in summer and autumn 2014 at Projektraum Drifters. These performances are based on and an addition to the text "Masses and Impersonation", and together with it form a visual essay.

The Imperson is a state of being that is spawned by the Masses.

The Imperson is characterised by adopting a single set or multiple sets of ideals, usually without question.

Impersons tend to form clusters around these sets. Clusters draw in other sets and connect sets. They exist in a multidimensional system and sets that may appear distant from each other can be directly linked.

The Imperson is perpetuated by the masses of other Impersons who follow the same sets.
This conglomeration of Impersons gives the sets their critical mass. This propels the set and creates movement. This movement generates a force of persuasion.
To adopt a set, or many sets, the actions that pertain to the ideals are borrowed, returned, expanded and elaborated by the Imperson.
There is an infinite amount of sets. They are remixed and carried from cluster to cluster, from imperson to imperson.
Sets are impartial.
They orbit, coming to the fore, waxing and waning, overlapping and fusing and sometimes dissipating.
Freedom is the space between the sets. If it exists, it is miniscule and cannot be happened upon lightly as it is often indiscernible from the outer regions of the clusters.

After a period of progress in which the clusters and sets became less rigid and the traffic between was frequent, we are now at the point where clusters easily harden, break apart and collide.
