From 19 January to 9 March 2013, Hengesbach Gallery will present Duesseldorf-based artist Michael Reisch’s most recent series /14. On this occasion, the gallery will also show the 2011 series /8, as well as a selection of other works of contemporary abstract photography by artist Eno Henze and others.
Reisch’s series /14 and /8 both engage with the possibility of mimesis. Series /14 does not only show that both concrete representation and photography can be imitated completely by computer-generated images, it also deciphers mimesis as a phenomenon which - apart from imitating reality - can be pure imagination. Series /8 can be seen as a precursor of Reisch’s most recent photographs: they all deal with the decomposition of the traditionally photographic.
