LiTE-HAUS Galerie + Projektraum welcomes Greek artist Raschmie Soukoulis for her first solo exhibition “Pietá +”. The artist will present her current works which include drawings and collage; beautiful, layered, and poignant representations of humanity and forms from nature.
Soukoulis’ detailed and somewhat obsessive artworks in “Pietá +” often portray human beings in intimate poses; yet even when embracing or kissing, there is something strained about the interactions. Her more abstract works draw heavily on forms from nature, and the materials used in her collages provide texture that lures the viewer to touch.
Soukoulis was born in Thessaloniki, and attended the Athens School of Fine Arts where she studied drawing, printmaking, and screenprinting. She has studied in the A’ Printmaking Studio of Michalis Arfaras with the teacher Yiannis Gourzis. She continued her education in Budapest and London. As an Erasmus student she studied in the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Budapest, Hungary in the studios of József Gaál and DLA István Madácsy. In her early years she also studied drawing, printmaking and screen printing in the Prince’s Foundation, East London Printmakers and the City Lit in London. She has a Diploma in acting from the National Theatre of Northern Greece and a PgDip in musical-theatre from Central School of Speech and Drama in London. The last 16 years she has been working as an actress. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Greece and Budapest.
