Das Traumhaus (The Dream House)

Ulrich Schamoni's charming feature film about real estate speculation and alternative life in West Berlin in the late 1970s: four young adults live in a peaceful residential community in a shabby old villa. They grow vegetables in the garden and practice ecological-oriented animal husbandry. But their dream of a self-determined life is in danger as the owner of a building company (Judy Winter) lays an eye on the property. An engineer (Horst Frank) jumps in by modernising the building energy-efficiently, whereby naturally the idyll gets lost. Anneke Raker focuses on the vegetables and herbs grown in the garden of the villa. She is going to prepare a surprise dinner out of potatoes, parsley, cabbage and more.
