Opening Stereo

Artists: gerd pilz, wolfram spyra
Genres: interactive installation, Photography

In December, Schalterraum presents STEREO, an exhibition curated
by Franziska Rutishauser which deals with visual and auditory
spatiality. The works of Gerd Pilz and Wolfram Spyra complement
one another and form syntheses by interaction which can be
expanded by the individual perceptions of the visitors.

Gerd Pilz was born 1957 in Unna. From 1980 to 1982 he completed
the training for photographers at Lette-Verein in Berlin and
from 1987 to 1989 the training as certified photo-technician
at Fachschule für Optik und Fototechnik in Berlin. He does
freelance work and teaches at the Meisterschule für Fotografie
des BSZ Alois Senefelder in Munich. In addition he realizes
solo- and group exhibitions with his own artistic projects. The
publication “Anaglyphen” from 2013 shows a cross section of his
long standing engagement with stereophotography.

Wolfram Spyra was born 1964. He studied fine arts at the
art academy Kassel with Prof. H. Kramer. He works as a
visual artist, curator, composer, musician and inventor of
groundbreaking sound installation. Spyra was involved in the
framework program of documenta with a sound art exhibition
several times and has worked on numerous international
projects. He was honored with Schallwelle-awards several
times. His works engage with auditory perception and create
sound sculptures in alliance with images, materials and human
interaction.
