Green Hill Gallery glad to invite to you the opening of « Cold Lace », solo show of Morvarid K, happening on the 7th of June 2018.

Born in Tehran (IR), Morvarid K spent her life in many countries. Based in Bordeaux (FR) since 2015, she always come back to her roots. This constant movement across borders and « return » to the origins, to Iran, has a significant impact on her artistic process.

The exhibition will show a body of work from the « Cold Lace » series realised in 2017. In Tehran, on rooftops or indoors, she photographs young women, objects and architecture. The golden ink, directly applied on the photographs, becomes part of the image, injecting a new visual substance and layer of imagination.

Intrigued by the human complexity, Morvarid K aims at creating bridges between past and present, reality and fiction, as well as identities and cultures. She grounds her artistic work in what she calls the « invisible frontiers ». In these in-between time and spaces, she makes opposing forces interact in order to transcend the beauty, the poetry, as well as the absurdity of our private world and society.

Transcending beauty through tension, suffering, compulsion, brutality and ugliness is also the process of Butoh (dance). Moreover, Morvarid K. is collaborating with Yuko Kaseki, choreographer, performer and Butoh dancer based in Berlin.

Morvarid K and Yuko Kaseki will also live perform at the gallery on the 14th of June at 7.30pm (doors open at 7pm).
The exhibition runs until the 8th of July.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
