Verwandlungen at Bornholmer Strasse 76 on Berlin Art Grid
Bornholmer Strasse 76

Opening Verwandlungen

Artists: eun ji gim
Genres: Photography

Berlin-based Korean artist Eun Ji Gim takes over a flat in Bornholmer Strasse 76 with a series of works revolving around the idea of metamorphosis: the metamorphosis of Gregor Samsa into a bug, but also the metamorphosis that happens while developing a photograph. Although the transformation from the negative to the picture is reproducible as many times as possible, the metamorphosis within each process is still unique. In these terms, could we say that the exact copy -no matter if it is the multiple of one image or of one sheep - becomes a myth?

Where? Bornholmer Strasse 76, close by the first crack in the Wall (yep, Prenzlauerberg, c'mon that's NOT that far away). Ring DieVerwandlungen, get to the hinterhof and climb up to the second floor (friendly panels will help you in case you'd find these instructions too difficult to follow).

When? Thursday, September 17th, from 7pm to 11pm.
Or, if you are not going to make it on the opening night, book your visit here: dieVerwandlungen@gmail.com
The show is up until September 20th!

How? SBahn station Bornholmer Strasse, or M13 & Tram 50 (Björnsonstrasse)

Why? Because Eun Ji Gim installation is unique: it was conceived especially for the flat in Bornholmer Strasse, it is lasting only three days and will buzz your mind. Because the only certain thing in life is change. And if that is not enough, there will be booze! (well, we'll ask you for a kleine Spende for the booze though – you decide the amount so we kindly remind you that super good karma goes with very generous donations).

Don't follow the flock of abc visitors: see you on Thursday night at Space Bornholmer!
