In 1945, more than 80% of Warsaw is destroyed, and the Decree of Bolesław Bierut confiscates what is left. After the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, many former owners or their legal successors claim for getting back their possessions, but a lot of requests remain today unanswered...
For his group of works "Restitution", Yann Toma went to Warsaw where he got access to these properties. With his "Radiant flows", he embodies the invisible energy of theses abandoned places, and tries to capture the aura of the former residents. The result of Toma’s nocturnal performances is a series of large format photos, enigmatically luminous.
