The exhibition 'Illustrative Superlative, as the name already promises, will be an exhibition of superlatives. The three Berlin-based artist Dana Damki, Janina Schütz and Bert Van Wijk will show their works at ORi and invite you to immerge into their fabulous world.
Danadamki is a Berlin-based illustrator. She has lived several years in Japan and spent some time in Melbourne and Hongkong. Inspired by Asian design, crazy parties and rad encounters, she draws everything that comes up to her mind. The exhibition at ORI shows the inhabitants, buildings and things from Damkitown. If you find out which characters, buildings and objects belong to each other, you could even win something! Quiz papers will be available at the exhibition. www.danadamki.com
Hans Wurst (Kasper--> Mr. Punch) is famous. He appears on every stage and punches the devil or the crocodile with a little help of his slapstick. This is what I want thinks the illustrator Janina Schütz and names her figure Nies Wurst. Nies Wurst being the caricature of Janina soon developes to be her pseudonym whose hitting everyone around her with her huge stick. With a pencil Miss Wurst quickly depicts her surroundings and shows with a sense of humor characters and personalities surrounding Janina.

After experimenting with different techniques and media, Berlin based “illustrator” Bert van Wijk is now focusing on painting and personal work. In his paintings he shows us what we can’t see but what might be. From a distance we might recognize imaginary creatures in imaginary landscapes. But the closer we get, the more abstract things get and when we are right in front of his work we are left with patterns, abstract forms and some well placed stains layered over each other creating a depth that reminds us of thick undergrowth and leaves us wondering what else might be living down there…
