Liu Xia is rated among the most remarkable photographers of present China. She shoots in black-and-white. Central object of her artistic work are dolls. Liu Xia is married to the Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo, who is under arrest in China since 2010. Liu Xia is grounded as well since many years. She is not allowed to exhibit in China. The Martin-Gropius-Bau shows around 50 of her photographs.
