"Poster Philosophy"

For "Poster Philosophy", his second solo show at BQ, Marcus Steinweg has conceived a series of philosophical posters. By their arrangement, they add up to a three-dimensional textual structure. The "Philosophical Posters" demonstrate that philosophy – even though opposing stereoptypes and criticising simplicisms – always involves a certain degree of simplification and of bold directness; the same is true for science and for art. Philosophy resists schematic directness applying a minimum of admitted and exposed directness. By oscillating between the demonstration of complexity and its reduction, philosophy becomes paradox and aporetic, and obtains its critical strength.
