In the exhibition Right Behind You, artist Nora Adwan combines bulky objects, mysterious projections and analogue photography to create a unique installation. The projections of moving images merge with the material objects; they adapt to the shape of the sculpture appearing to distort and stretch it. Light reflections shimmer on the wooden structures and water seems to flow along the object. In spite of their bulkiness the static objects appear uncertain and off balance. The video projection brings the dimension of time to the static sculpture, the object suddenly has duration; it is no longer a timeless monument. The free-floating large scale silver gelatin prints with their enigmatic architectural structures and urban scenes scrutinize the perception of social memory.

The work of Nora Adwan combines sculptural objects with lens based media. Born in London, she studied art at Kingston University before she moved to Berlin. Adwan has participated in various artist in residence ürgrams, including at Terre sans Frontieres, Zagora, Morocco (2008), Art Factory, Bialystok, Poland (2010) and Meet Factory, Prague, Czech Republic (2011).
