401contemporary is pleased to present works of Mary Bauermeister for the first time. Bauermeister has been significant in co-founding the European Fluxus movement in the early 60s. An exhibition together with Berlin based artist Jakob Mattner may be surprising but functions well as a stimulating view on two current artistic positions. Bauermeister is interested in the day, the material of the prism light beam, the refulgence of things - Mattner is fascinated by the night, the twilight, the intermediate tones. The Cosmic, the macro and the micro cosmos - this is were both art worlds of such different artists are comparable.
