summer exhibition at janinebeangallery on Berlin Art Grid
Artists: gilbert brohl, amber sena, iva vacheva
Genres: Painting, drawing, arbeiten auf papier, malerei

janinebeangallery's summer show features paintings and drawings by three young artists from Germany, Bulgaria and the USA.

Berlin artist Gilbert Brohl will present mostly large-sized landscapes, very aware of differing from traditional landscape painting. Buildings in his sceneries are applied with a street-art style stencil-technique as in graffiti art, depicted in opaque colourfulness. In comparison we see the vividly colored paintings and drawings of the Bulgarian artist Iva Vacheva. Her images tell many little stories in which reality and fantasy, lust for living and sadness, erotic attraction and physical disgust, curiosity and weariness steadily blend into one another. Fearless and challenging she presents her often seemingly sinister visions, which always appear easy and humorous though.
For the first time in Berlin: the large-sized drawings of the New York artist Amber Sena. With motifs like quasi photo-realistic drawn sculptures and a distinctive emotional impetus her drawings occupy their very own space. Facing the striking classical reminiscences in the images a formal time frame opens for the spectator, which the artist combines skillfully with the very present expression of timeless achetypes.
