Somos is proud to present the premiere of "The Five Senses", a recently discovered collaboration between the late Brian Tennessee Claflin and Greta Frau. "The Five Senses" assumes the hybrid form of a five-channel video installation crossed with performance, featuring a young Claflin, filmed against a bare white wall, invoking each of the five senses in five performances of five minutes each: hearing, scent, touch, taste, and seeing.
Claflin, who was organizer of the weekly “PORK" party at Ficken3000 and a beloved figure in Berlin nightlife, passed away in 2014, leaving behind a trove of artwork that his friends and colleagues have united to preserve and promote through a foundation. "The Five Senses" will be the first exhibition stemming from that archive.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication, featuring stills from the videos as well as a work of object-oriented writing by Travis Jeppesen.
On 2 December at 7pm Travis Jeppesen will read from these texts in front of the installation, being accompanied by a live improv session by the musician Snax.
