TRANSFORMATION VI - Stephane Leonard at Temporäre Galerie on Berlin Art Grid
Artists: stephane leonard
Genres: art installation, drawing, street art

For the exhibition series TRANSFORMATION, the Berlin artist Stephane Leonard created the site-specific installation "Inseln" (islands) in collaboration with students from the secondary levels of Campus Rütli, accompanied by the art teacher Christine Sader. The cooperation between the artist Leonard and the Rütli teenagers began in April 2016 with a joint exploration of the neighbourhood. Together they looked for seemingly casual, random forms, colours and line arrangements, jointly created by man and nature. This was followed by discussions and common drawing sessions. To conclude, the collective work was assembled in a specially built room-in-room construction within the exhibition space. On view will be the large-format results of this unique collaboration.

Simultaneously, another group of students worked with Christine Sader on the notion of role models respectively people who mean something to them. They discussed about Street Art, departing from Graffiti and Stencils one can find on the West Bank barrier wall. On this basis, they developed their own Stencils, that range from footballers, rappers and politicians to activists and victims of dictatorial regimes. In the exhibition, they show us who's counting for them.

He studied Philosophy and Art History at the Humboldt University of Berlin and Free Art with an emphasis on Drawing, Film / Video and Sound in the classes of Prof. Paco Knöller (master class) and Prof. Jean-François Guiton at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bremen.
