Time is space and they are only a system of references deciding what is in and what is out a certain border. This limit, which is a frame, can assume the meaning of “structure”, but also “stage”. The exhibition (ulti)mate Event presents three artists whose works explore the ambiguity within the frame as a context and the frame as an object.

The “Event”, according to Zizek, “is a change of the very frame through which we perceive the world and engage in it”1. The frame and the Event are then related since they exist in function of the black spots in a certain place. Jimok Choi uses the physical void to question and extend the concept of belief and narration. On the other hand, Ann Oren fragments an existing narrative -which is done by an act of reappropriation – dramatically changing the nature of the object we are looking at. This plays with our preconceptions and ways to experience it: Elisa Storelli, by not showing us part of the narration behind her research, forces us to face this unknown object and to explore anew our everyday constructions.

(ulti)mate Event aims to put the visitor outside the comfort zone in order to challenge our subjective perception of the Real.

Zeit ist Raum. Beide zusammen machen ein Referenzsystem aus, das entscheidet, was innerhalb und was außerhalb gewisser Grenzen einzuordnen ist. Die Ausstellung (ulti)mate Event präsentiert drei Künstler, deren Arbeit sich mit der Vieldeutigkeit dieses Rahmens, und auch mit diesem als Objekt, auseinandersetzt.

Das „Event“ bezieht sich nach Zizek eine Änderung der Rahmen, der wir die Welt wahrnehmen und uns darin verpflichten1. Einem fehlenden Glied innerhalb des Geflechts, das unser Referenzsystem ausmacht. Der Rahmen und das Event sind insofern miteinander verbunden, als Punkte innerhalb eines konkreten Kontextes. Jimok Choi verwendet physische Leere und Abwesenheit, um Konzepte von Glaube und Narrative zu hinterfragen. Ann Oren wiederum fragmentiert eine bestehende Narrative – die mittels Wiederinbesitznahme geschaffen wurde – und verändert somit den Charakter des Objekts dramatisch. So spielt sie mit Erwartungshaltungen und Konzeptionen. Elisa Storelli behält sich Teile der Narrative hinter ihrer Arbeit vor. So ist man gezwungen, sich einem unbekannten Objekt, und zugleich den eigenen alltäglichen Wirklichkeitskonstrukten zu stellen. (ulti)mate Event beabsichtigt, den Betrachter aus Komfortzonen zu stoßen, um die subjektive Wahrnehmung in Frage zu stellen.
